McFarland Clinic is currently accepting applications for a Prior Authorization Specialist for it's Ames Orthopedic department. Candidates should be service oriented, a team player, and able to provide extraordinary care, everyday to our patients.
Responsibilities include:
Review patient's medical history and verify patient's insurance Work with insurance plans for pre-authorization and re-authorization of patient services Complete authorizations and submit requested medical documentation to insurance companies Troubleshoot authorization related issues Maintain open communication regarding status of authorization and any additional documentation or information needed Maintain accurate documentation in patient's medical record Manage incoming and outgoing referrals for services, including appointments and procedures. Contact referring physicians for additional information as needed Monitor schedule for potential issues Assist with other clerical tasks as needed Education
High School Diploma, GED or HiSet Days:
Monday - Friday
Hours:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Schedule can be flexible within reason.
Experience
Basic computer skills Attention to detail and ability to multitask Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Knowledge of medical terminology Epic EMR experience preferred but not required Healthcare experience preferred but not required Pre-authorization knowledge/experience required
