Roles and Responsibilities: Lead the development and execution of a global media strategy that enhances awareness of the BioMarin brand. Build and oversee the company’s first Product Communications team. Act as a trusted advisor within the team and across the organization. Anticipate and lead response to media inquiries. Identify high-impact stories and content to amplify. Position BioMarin’s executives and researchers as scientific thought leaders. Anticipate and prepare the company for issues management/crisis communications. Work collaboratively with Europe & Canada/Intercontinental Communications leads. Refine the company’s process for media monitoring in partnership with the PR agency. Leverage analytics and data to evaluate the impact of stories. Collaborate with Digital & Social Media team to amplify earned media messaging. Qualifications: At least 15-20 years of public relations experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. A proven track record in media relations and deep relationships with key reporters/publications. Excellent writer and natural storyteller with superior verbal communications skills. Ability to influence senior leaders and build consensus across all levels of the organization. Experience serving as a company spokesperson for a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company. Strong track record with issues management/crisis communications. Demonstrated knowledge of regulations governing communications for a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company. BS/BA in science, communications, liberal arts and advanced degree in communications, public relations, journalism or business preferred. Note:
