This challenging and fast paced position will require a personable candidate with experience in the design of fire alarm systems in industrial, commercial, healthcare, and educational construction projects.

Your Impact: • Review construction contract documents and coordinate with project managers, sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather the required information to design the project's fire alarm system. • Provide technical expertise during the design phase (schematic, design development) to coordinate spaces required for those systems. • Demonstrate thorough use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and systems possibilities. • Layout and size equipment, perform hydraulic calculations, perform load calculations and investigate code requirements. • Coordinate between disciplines and produce working documents using AutoCAD and REVIT software. • Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the design and construction process. • Create stock list for all material required throughout the project. • Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work. • Maintain design historical records for future use. • Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure company is meeting client expectations. • Coordinate with other departments within office to ensure proper handover of job information. • Complete other assigned responsibilities as directed by immediate supervisor or other LEAF Engineers management personnel.

Here's What You'll Need: • A minimum of 2 years of work experience designing fire alarm systems design with an engineering consultant or design-build contractor • Understanding of calculations and design of alarm layouts • Understanding of Fire Life Safety Code and NFPA 13 • Proficient in AutoCAD • Strong organizational skills • Must be physically able and willing to conduct site inspections and fieldwork, i.e., climb ladders, walk on roofs, etc

Here's How You'll Stand Out: • You have a 2- or 4-year engineering or related engineering technology degree • You have NICET Certifications • You have experience with specification writing and editing • You are proficient in using Revit • You have previous experience with local building departments, fire agencies, and with the Division of the State Architect (DSA).

The actual offered base salary for California locations will vary depending on factors such as individual qualifications, education, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, work location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role will be at or near the top half of the range provided, but the decision will be dependent on the factors of each individual case. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation in the form of discretionary bonuses in addition to base salary and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. The salary range for this position is below.

$59,977.00 - $89,966.00
