JOB TITLE:
Assistant Lecturer, Agricultural Communications
JOB PURPOSE:
The College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer position in agricultural communications starting August 2025. This is a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching undergraduate courses in agricultural communication-related topics, such as introduction to agricultural communications, an agricultural communications capstone course, and the development of two additional upper division courses. Teaching select courses in the Communication and Journalism program, such as business and professional communication and multimedia production, with an agricultural communications lens. Supervising student internships and serving as club advisor to Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities will also include contributing to professional, departmental, and university service activities. COMPETENCIES: Ability to learn Attention to detail Integrity Innovation Collaboration Quality of work Independence
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Journalism or Communication (or a related discipline) by the time of hire. Consideration will be given to candidates who have a master's degree in an agricultural-related field if they have a communication or journalism-related undergraduate degree. Demonstrated background in agriculture and knowledge of the field. Demonstrated expertise in agricultural communications skills, especially multimedia production and professional communication. Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous college-level teaching experience in courses such as agricultural communications, multimedia, public speaking, and related courses. Professional experience in fields such as agricultural communications, public relations, design, multimedia, or related areas, especially from an agricultural perspective. Experience with using and teaching the Adobe Creative Suite, such as Photoshop, InDesign, or Audition.
