Summary
The Senior Mechanical Designer is involved in the plant layout, detailing, drafting, and design of conveyor systems and components such as, machinery, stairs, platforms & mezzanines, ladders, and other items as needed. This position requires someone with excellent design/drafting skills in AutoCAD 2006 or later and knowledge of sheet metal fabrication principles. Successful candidates must be very organized and have basic project management skills. The incumbent must be able to complete 2D and 3D drawings accurately and quickly. Further, this person must be capable of interacting well with other departments to obtain ideas, ensure quality, and correct errors.

Complete drawings in an accurate and timely manner based on customer standards and specifications in order to maintain project schedules
Communicate professionally with Customers, Vendors, Field, Manufacturing, and Office personnel
Maintain all project data in an organized manner
Responsibilities
Generate mechanical design drawings to meet project requirements, incorporating best practices for fabrication and installation
Generate clear and accurate submittal drawings for review and approval
Generate accurate shop detail drawings, as needed, including material and hardware bills of materials and cut lists
Generate field assembly drawings and documents, including shipping lists and field bolt schedules
Timely entry of BoMs and other relevant information into infor ERP system
Complete Take Offs as required and in a timely manner
Check the work of junior level designers and provide constructive feedback
Report on drawing progress as specified by the Manager or Assistant Project Manager
Highly proficient in the capabilities and practices of our fabrication facility and able to assist in knowledge transfer to Design I and II Drafters
Conduct site visits when necessary
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required
Minimum of 5 - 10 years experience with design/drafting
Experience with AutoCAD 2006 or later and with Inventor
Experience in the package handling industry is a plus
Strong analytic skills with an understanding of drawings and measurements
Ability to navigate through complex projects and follow directions and work in a safe and professional manor
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, customer service and follow up oriented
Ability to follow directions, written and verbal, efficiently with the ability to work under time constraints and prioritize to meet deadlines
Ability to travel a minimum of 5% to business sites, as required
