Description
Responsible for supporting schools in implementing the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Health and Physical Education. This includes developing, presenting, and delivering programs and interventions that promote school health and well-being for students, staff, parents, and the community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Typical Qualifications
Education: Baccalaureate degree in health education and promotion, education, child development, nutritional science, dietetics, public health, or a related field is required.
Experience: Experience in education, public speaking, program development, curriculum development, and communication skills preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
Certification: Current certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist through the National
Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. is preferred.
Licenses: Valid Oklahoma driver's license and reliable transportation.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will be working in Tulsa County schools. A majority of the time will be spent in a classroom setting in a public school.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
FLSA Status: Exempt

- Deliver engaging, skills-based health education and physical education lessons to elementary students in Tulsa County.
- Act as a liaison for the School Health program while at schools, assisting in scheduling and relationship building.
- Promote Tulsa Health Department's programs to individuals in Tulsa County schools and work with existing agency programs to promote health education in schools.
- Participate inbefore school, evening, and weekend events including assemblies,school functions, and parent engagement events, as needed.
- Assist with program data collection and reporting for the School Health program.
- Assist in curriculum development for the School Health program, as needed.
- Collaborate with partnering schools and School Health staff to deliver effective prevention programming for students, school personnel, and parents.
- Provide health and physical education training to school and community members.
- Assist in the development of projects that further the School Health program's reach.
- Complete required training in support of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Other duties as assigned including those required to fulfill activities in support of public health emergency operations.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Reaching above shoulder height to adjust video equipment and reach supplies, stooping, and lifting boxes of materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for an extended period of time (60 minutes) to teach in various classroom settings.
- Must be able to perform basic motor movements such as walking from vehicle to building and occasionally climbing stairs.
- Must maintain THD record confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to perform work-related travel.
- Must be available for occasional work outside of normal office hours including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
