Job Description

Notre Dame Learning seeks a Senior Video Producer & Editor with the creativity, technical skill, and vision to produce, edit, and deliver professional audio and cinema-quality video for a sweeping range of learning projects. This role is ideal for a passionate video professional with strong production and post-production expertise who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Reporting to the Director of Academic Media & XR, the Video Producer & Editor will be responsible for planning, shooting, and editing engaging video content that enhances learning experiences at Notre Dame and beyond. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for cinematography, expert editing skills, and experience crafting videos that communicate complex ideas in visually captivating ways.

Who You Are

You are a talented video producer and editor with a passion for storytelling and a drive for excellence. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with faculty, instructional designers, and media professionals to develop high-quality educational content. You bring technical expertise, creative vision, and problem-solving skills to every project, ensuring that videos meet both pedagogical goals and production standards.

What You’ll Do:

Video Production & Editing

  • Produce custom filmed media for academic and learning purposes in a variety of genres including: in-studio and on-location instructional video; nonfiction and documentary features; lightboard and screencast; demonstrations, interviews, lectures, worked examples; opportunity to contribute to narrative-based courseware features;
  • Occasional travel may be required for location filming. Past locations include Chartres Cathedral (France), Northern California, Rome (Italy); Bangkok and Chiang Mai Thailand;
  • With the guidance of the Creative Director, you’ll lead media projects from start to finish, including the planning and execution of scripting, scouting locations, filming, post-production editing, graphics, color correction, and forming intricate soundscapes;
  • On set, you’ll coach, coordinate, and provide direction to on-camera faculty, instructors, or talent; set up lighting, run cameras and audio recording;
  • After filming, you’ll turn footage into high-quality learning media through skillful editing, design and implementation of graphic elements, audio clean-up, sound design, and color correction;
  • Additionally, you’ll contribute your skills to other team projects executed by ND Learning as a producer, camera operator, sound designer, or editor;

Creative Development, Collaboration & Industry Trends

  • Develop compelling creative concepts that align with visionary frameworks established by the Creative Director.
  • Effectively communicate media workflow processes and creative ideas to project partners without media backgrounds.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of current and emerging technology, software, and multimedia opportunities.
  • Innovate and develop new academic media techniques that push creative boundaries in educational content, integrating emerging trends in cinematography, animation, and interactive learning experiences.
  • Mentor student editors and editing interns, fostering their skill development and professional growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Media Arts, Communication, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in video production and editing.
  • Strong proficiency in Davinci Resolve and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition).
  • Experience with camera operation, lighting setups, and audio recording.
  • Ability to translate educational concepts into compelling video narratives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of digital accessibility standards for video content (e.g., captions, transcripts, WCAG compliance).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience producing educational or instructional videos.
  • Motion graphics and animation skills using After Effects or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and video hosting platforms.
  • Knowledge of 360-degree video production, interactive video, or XR applications.
  • Experience in higher education, online learning, or digital storytelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
