CBS Austin has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Traffic News Anchor / Reporter.
In this role, you will be required to produce daily content for our morning newscast, produce radio traffic reports in the morning and afternoon working a split-shift and contribute to other newscasts and platforms as assigned. The content you develop will be produced for a variety of platforms including the internet and social networks, along with performing other duties as assigned by the news managers. We are looking for someone with a clear understanding of how to use computer programs to find the traffic story, deliver the issues clearly and concisely as well as to provide alternate routes in a timely fashion. You may also be asked to develop and record traffic stories for other newscasts to help alert viewers and readers to potential traffic conditions to help them plan their day/night/commute. A successful candidate can research stories, write them with an edge, and use strong storytelling and TV production to make stories impactful and memorable. It is important to have strong writing skills and to have knowledge of current events. Dynamic live television and storytelling skills are a must.
Skills and Experience:
- A self-starter who can generate his or her own story ideas
- A strong knowledge of Austin and its streets and highways
- A quick learner who learns new computer programs with ease
- Ability to demonstrate enterprise reporting and creativity in storytelling
- Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain an active social media presence to build your brand and solicit original story ideas
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Previous reporting experience is required
- Must have at least 2 years of on-air experience
- Live shot experience is required
- Previous experience working in a team environment is a must
