Overview
As a member of the Support Services team, the Senior Audio Visual Technician provides outstanding senior level service to Macalester College faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders through regular coordinating and execution of A/V event support and services, utilizing shared documents and sheets. Sr. A/V Technician maintains the A/V Student schedule and staffing of events. Provides support, learning & skill development for campus users of A/V technology and A/V Services student employees. Assists with hardware & software administration, maintenance, and support for A/V technology infrastructure in learning spaces, meeting rooms, and other campus facilities.
This is a full-time position with typical work hours of 8:30am-5:00pm with required flexibility to work evening and weekend events.
About The Department: A/V Services, as part of the Support Services Department, is the first contact for help with your Audio Visual technology and Event questions. A/V Services provides consultation, planning, support, and production services for campus meetings and events. We deliver technology support for A/V equipment in classrooms, events spaces, and webinars.
Responsibilities
- Provides consultation, planning, operational oversight and support for in-person, hybrid, and online events at Macalester of varying size, scope, and impact. Sets up, operates and troubleshoots during the event, breakdowns and stores equipment, and requested post-production work.
- Schedules, trains, and supervises A/V student workers along with A/V Technician and A/V Manager. This may include supporting a Student Worker AV manager with reviewing/publishing schedules.
- Partners with A/V Manager and Engineer in future planning on meeting/event spaces for repairs, improvements, and growth. Collaborates with campus stakeholders as well if needed.
- Manages and maintains A/V equipment including maintenance, testing, repair, and recommendations for upgrades/replacements/augmentation.
- Provides supplementary hardware & software maintenance and support for A/V infrastructure in classrooms, meeting spaces, and other locations on campus.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher required.
- 3+ years extensive experience in operating, setting up/striking AV and event equipment (mics, soundboard, camera, livestream) in a professional environment.
- Strong knowledge of event space technology, Extron knowledge preferred.
- Ability to analyze the needs of an event and make changes as needed. Being flexible supporting stakeholders and what is needed to run a successful event.
- Strong aptitude to communicate and work with different campus groups to have the best possible experience for Macalester events/classes.
Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position will be $29.78 – $31.14 depending on experience.
