Description
The Instructional Designer is responsible for assisting with the research, design, development, and administration of professional development activities for faculty. The incumbent will also collaborate with faculty to design and develop curriculum materials, including course outlines, learning objectives, assessments, and content resources that align with academic standards and promote active, learner-centered engagement.

Qualifications
Batchelor's Degree in Instructional Design or a related field (e.g. Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Education, etc.) from a regionally accredited institution. Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and educational technology integration, preferably in higher education settings. Understanding of adult learning principles, pedagogical approaches, and learning theories. Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas), multimedia tools, and other educational technologies. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Strong project management abilities with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities. Familiarity with accessibility standards and guidelines for creating inclusive online learning experiences. Creative and analytical thinker with the ability to innovate and adapt to evolving educational landscapes. Experience in providing professional development and training.

The incumbent will also collaborate with faculty to design and develop curriculum materials, including course outlines, learning objectives, assessments, and content resources that align with academic standards and promote active, learner-centered engagement.
Detailed Work Activities
- Collaborate with faculty to provide training and professional development in effective instructional design practices, technology integration, and online course delivery. Offer ongoing support to faculty as they navigate new technologies and teaching methods.
- Apply instructional design principles to create and improve courses, ensuring they are pedagogically sound, interactive, and accessible. Implement varied teaching strategies, including blended and online learning approaches, to address diverse learning styles.
- Identify and integrate appropriate educational technologies, tools, and resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences. Provide guidance on using learning management systems, multimedia resources, and other digital tools effectively.
- Collaborate with faculty to design and develop curriculum materials, including course outlines, learning objectives, assessments, and content resources that align with academic standards and promote active, learner-centered engagement.
- Conduct quality reviews of courses to ensure alignment with established standards, accessibility guidelines, and best practices for online learning. Implement revisions and improvements as necessary.
- Provide user support to faculty, staff, and students for the learning management system (Moodle).
- Work closely with subject-matter experts, multimedia designers, and other stakeholders to develop engaging and interactive learning materials, multimedia content, and assessments.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in instructional design, educational technology, and online pedagogy. Continuously seek opportunities to improve learning experiences.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met. Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Represent the College professionally and handle all matters in a confidential manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Maintains the integrity of the College and its related foundations.
Planning
- Participate in all aspects of the institutional planning process.
- Support discipline specific student learning outcomes and assessment.
- Identify trends in education to improve the delivery of services to students.
Organizing
- Assist with the development and revision of all official policies of Robeson Community College as requested.
- Organize procedures for the implementation of all official policies and regulations of Robeson Community College and the NCCCS.
- Assist with the development of information for college marketing materials and social media.
Controlling
- Maintain compliance with established performance standards with the North Carolina Community College System, Robeson Community College and other entities.
Public Relations
- Maintain intra-institution relationships with members of the Board of Trustees, administrative personnel and other employees of the college.
- Provide appropriate liaison support with the North Carolina Community College System, Robeson Community College and other relational entities.
- Collaborate with the NCCCS staff of public relations and marketing opportunities.
- Promote Robeson Community College with local, state, regional and national citizenry.
- Participate in activities that promote and enhance the college's image among its various publics.
Professional/Personal Development
- Pursue professional development courses, seminars, workshops, and institutes designed to enrich and/or enhance the quality of instruction delivered in the classroom and/or laboratory, particularly the online environment.
- Participate in Robeson Community College, North Carolina Community College System and other authorized professional development programs upon request.
- Provide professional development/training for faculty.
Other
- Perform other duties as assigned by the President of Robeson Community College.
