Avature is hiring: Consumer Tech Reporter in San Francisco
Avature, San Francisco, CA, United States, 94199
Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.
We are seeking an experienced reporter to join our new consumer technology news team. This person will handle day-to-day news coverage of consumer devices and software from the world’s largest technology companies, including Meta, Amazon, Google, Apple, Samsung and Huawei. We’re looking for a high-energy, ambitious reporter with an extraordinary and relentless obsession for breaking news.
Your job is to find out what new devices and features are coming down the pike and deliver this information to our customers with speed, accuracy and sharp insights. You will also be tasked with news coverage of smaller public hardware companies, including Sonos, Peloton and Garmin.
You’ll need to have deep knowledge of the inner workings of these companies, as well as the ability to develop sources inside and adjacent to them. The role will also require you to keep tabs on major software updates for iOS, Android and other major platforms, including those from autonomous vehicle companies.
If you are a gadget enthusiast who lives and breathes technology-- if you're the person your friends, family and colleagues rely on for tech advice--you could be a fit. This position can be based in either San Francisco or New York.
To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter and at least 3 examples of your work by Monday, March 17.

- Take risks and find ways to innovate while maintaining the highest standards for accuracy and speed.
- Contribute across a variety of Bloomberg platforms and formats, such as video, radio, podcasts, Bloomberg.com and Bloomberg Businessweek magazine.
You'll need to have:
- Five-plus years of journalism experience.
- Demonstrated affinity towards consumer tech coverage.
