Hiring Salary Range: $84,460.00 - 87,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program, and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Research and produce compelling segments that include quality sound, eye-catching graphics, effective use of maps, and headline-grabbing banners.
- Receive assignments and guidance from Executive Producers and Line Producers to research and write questions for anchors for guest segments and exercise editorial judgment in the selection of visual elements for segments.
- Coordinate with anchors and correspondents to inform them on subject matter and brief them on segments.
- Work closely with senior staff in the control room with the ability to add to the editorial process in a breaking and live news environment.
- Exercise stellar editorial skills: able to recognize stories with high potential for compelling and comprehensive storytelling.
- Work with senior staff members on the editorial content of the show.
- Pitch and craft clear and specific segment ideas with speed and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Serve as an editorial contributor in the control room during assigned segments to ensure smooth on-air production.
- Comprehensive knowledge of control room and exercise appropriate etiquette.
- Exhibit calm demeanor in high-pressure situations, including control room.
- Participate in daily staff editorial and production meetings.
- Work with Executive Producers, Line Producers, and Producers on standards, rights and clearances, and the editorial direction and language for the Anchors, Correspondents, and on-screen graphics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience working in a newsroom, preferably with experience writing copy at a national broadcast, streaming, cable news organization, or major local market.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism and/or a related field.
- Background in journalism and TV, including strong news judgment & critical thinking skills.
- Exemplary grammar and spelling, experience in news writing, and ability to pass comprehensive CBS News 24/7 writing test.
- Command of AP style and broadcast writing.
- Available to work all shifts, including early morning, nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a regular rotation and as coverage needs require, as this is a 24-hour news network.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of ENPS.
- Line producing experience.
- Sophisticated knowledge of current events and pop culture, up to date on periodicals, including Op-Eds.
- Own and master the day's international, national, and political news.
- Proven proficiency in collaborating within a team, maintaining meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to write and perform efficiently and calmly under the pressure of a fast-paced, live TV setting.
- Be able to balance multiple assignments for regular programming as well as rolling breaking news coverage.
- Proven capability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong understanding of digital and social media.
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for the future of digital media.
