Position Summary
The Junior Graphic Designer develops innovative print and digital designs from ideation through final production. Working closely with the Design Director and the wider communication team, you will deliver effective design solutions that meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. This position also plays a key role in elevating the Evangelical Covenant Church's overall branding, marketing, and communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Conceptualization
- Develop designs for both print and digital media, including brochures, posters, social media graphics, website visuals, and basic video elements, ensuring brand consistency across platforms.
- Collaborate closely with internal clients to understand their goals for each project and incorporate their feedback creatively while maintaining ECC brand standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary communication team to produce cohesive, high-quality deliverables.
- Partner with the digital team to plan and design images, icons, banners, videos, and web enhancements, ensuring brand consistency across platforms.
- Collaborate with editorial teams on interactive designs for Covenant Companion, Home Altar, and other ECC publications.
- Production & Quality Control
- Edit and color-correct photos to align with brand and project standards.
- Coordinate print production processes, including proofing and pre-production checks; review printer proofs to ensure quality results.
- Keep track of publication schedules and specifications to meet deadlines accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate file management and version control, following established processes for preparing final assets for print or digital release.
- Trend Monitoring & Innovation
- Stay current with emerging design trends, cultural shifts, and new technologies to enhance creative output.
- Share knowledge and provide guidance on best practices, techniques, and new ideas within the organization.
- Other Duties
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Design Director and Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical Skills
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) proficiency required.
- HTML & CSS familiarity is a plus for simple web layout adjustments.
- Experience with WordPress or other content management systems is a bonus but not required.
- Basic understanding of video editing or motion graphics (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects) is helpful, but not mandatory.
- Professional & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong foundation in core design principles (typography, color, layout, branding).
- Detail-oriented with good organizational and time-management skills; able to handle multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Open to feedback and eager to learn from senior team members; able to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communication skills—comfortable discussing design concepts and participating in team meetings.

Compensation details: 19-24 Hourly Wage
