Job Description
Job Summary
This position is responsible for product planning, design, and pricing of F&G Protection products in accordance with established pricing guidelines and profitability targets for Life product and is expected to provide product expertise, product strategy, and thought leadership to develop products that achieve F&G's product strategy.
This position reports directly to the VP, Protection Segment Product Officer and is expected to interact with the Product Implementation Team, the Portfolio Product Manager, the Distribution lead, and the Pricing Risk Committee team as well as others across disciplines and functions.
This position is expected to be active in industry committees to be aware of Actuarial and regulatory activity that will influence the Company's product strategy and portfolio. This position will have direct and indirect reports.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaboration with product leadership including Portfolio Product Manager, Distribution Leads, Marketing, and Competitive Intelligence to deliver product from concept phase through implementation
- Responsible for the development and pricing of Life products from the concept phase through implementation by:
- Providing preliminary pricing to support concept development
- Creating pricing framework and filing strategy in planning phase
- Determining product features, collaborating with Protection Segment Leadership and Risk Committees to develop awareness and ensure understanding and buy-in of implications of design and feature decisions by Actuarial leadership
- Leading product pricing including risk analysis, pricing analysis, and product approval
- Developing product specifications and handoff to Implementation team
- Ownership and understanding of product, profitability, and risk to maximize profitability while achieving portfolio strategy
- Direct pricing model build, documentation, and handoff ensuring appropriate model governance procedures are followed
- Develop and nurture team engagement, development, and growth
- Foster a risk aware culture within the team
- Encourage, develop, and drive enhancements to create repeatable and scalable processes
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- ASA and MAAA certifications required, FSA preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of related actuarial experience with progressively more responsibility with a concentration on Indexed Universal Life
- 4+ years of experience and leadership within an Actuarial product development function with a strong understanding of product, distribution, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with and knowledge of GGY AXIS or similar actuarial modeling software
- Experience leading a team and providing leadership within an organizational structure and able to establish processes necessary to implement strategic vision

- Demonstrated ability to apply actuarial principles to complex and ambiguous situations
- Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities
- Ability to manage multiple key initiatives at one time and provide priority setting, resource assessment, and delivery management
- Unconditional integrity and commitment to delivering accurate information on schedule
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and to influence key project decisions to achieve desired outcomes
- Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and is able to operate efficiently in unpredictable and challenging project environments
- Ability to collaborate with and influence technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of leadership, either through verbal or written forms of communication
