Position Summary
The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry's rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.
The Mailroom intern will ensure all mail is distributed throughout CPS Energy Headquarters. Intern will learn the basics of mail processing as well as the laws that are applicable to us. Learn how to use the permit numbers as well how to fill out the required 3602's for mailings. Intern will learn the basics of digital printing, focused on the Xerox reprographics printers. They will also learn how to order for all CPS Energy's Xerox equipment as well as ensuring all supplies are within the Business Centers.

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Must be a current high school student.
Must be a minimum age of 16.
Must reside within 120 miles of CPS Energy Headquarters.
Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating with other areas to achieve goals and objectives.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel.
Basic analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling.
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate an interest in a career applicable to the utility industry.
Participate in full-time employment with CPS Energy.
Attend all activities sponsored by CPS Energy during employment.
Pass a drug test and background screen prior to employment with CPS Energy.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist Senior Mail Operators on daily task, learn routes done daily.
- Ensures delivery of all mail from the downtown Post Office for disbursement to all respective mail drops.
- Performs rough and fine sort of all mail, working knowledge of mail drop system and their meaning.
- Accepts any and all expedited deliveries (FedEx, UPS, etc.), records and obtains signatures for each.
- Assesses any package that could be detrimental to the safety of the company and acts accordingly as trained.
- Addresses any issues from incoming calls regarding concerns or special needs.
- Monitors supplies needed for metering ink, strips and print heads.
- Places service calls as needed for the meter machines, inserter, folder and tracking devices.
- Processes all mail using high speed digital metering system, effectively ascertain the proper way to gain maximum discounts for all mail.
- Works with all internal customers for any planned and unplanned mailings, gives quotes to respective parties for postage needed and the best process in handling the mailings.
- Ensures Presort Services are picked up daily and United States Postal Service report is precisely completed and submitted.
- Makes necessary changes to mail drops of all customers in the process of moving or relocating to a new area.
- Ensures over 195 mail destinations throughout all locations are delivered twice daily.
- Folds, cuts and inserts all Privacy, Installation, Installments and Final Notices letters that are done daily to disperse to outside customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must report to assigned worksite Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:30pm
