We seek a diligent, detail-oriented professional to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong writing capabilities, familiar with website editing, be highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
The Marketing Assistant is a creative, driven, and passionate individual who is responsible for assisting marketing and business development for the John Canning & Co., and its affiliate, Canning Liturgical Arts. This person is a skilled writer, both highly creative and practical, who is able to tell a compelling story while also organizing the many moving parts of each project. Must be detail-oriented and able to shift focus quickly to keep up with the fast-paced environment. This role works under the supervision of our Business Development Director and two company Principals. This position will manage a variety of marketing; contribute to blog and newsletter content, work on social media, and collaborate with staff from across the company.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Writing compelling articles that are engaging, unfailingly accurate, and demonstrates familiarity and expertise around operatic subjects.
· Creating monthly newsletters.
· Create company marketing content such as award submissions and press releases as needed.
· Create project tear sheets and case studies.
· Writing and designing downloadable web resources.
· Assist in creating and implementing marketing campaigns that align with the Canning message.
· Assist in developing marketing strategies to promote and increase brand awareness that is in line with John Canning Co’s tone and brand identity.
· Assist in website marketing tasks (which may include: obtaining backlinks, increasing web presence etc.).
· Assist in website content creations and modifications ( blogs, portfolio pages, timeline page, etc.).
· Assist in gathering testimonials from clients, architects, contractors etc. for use in marketing.
· Assist in tradeshow and event planning.
· Other general marketing duties as needed (i.e. create advertisements, presentations).
· Collaborate and assist with other tasks the management team assigns and support other members of the marketing and business development teams as necessary.
· Research and gather contacts for potential target areas of business.
· Work on developing market target areas for increasing business (research, calls, visits, presentations, bid system sign ups, etc. for market areas).
Skills & Experience:
· Business Degree in either Marketing, Applied Business, Communications, or other relatable degrees.
· Minimum of 1-5 years professional experience in marketing, writing or content development.
· Proven track record of creating highly engaging copy.
· Excellent copywriting/strong written communication skills and editing skills. Able to deliver important information accurately within the Canning style.
· Supremely detail oriented and able to prioritize and be flexible.
· Creative mind, able to think outside of the box while still working within organizational structure.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
· Proficiency with photo editing tools – familiar with Canva or Photoshop
· Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite ( Photoshop, InDesign) preferred.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Wordpress knowledge or have ability to learn quickly.
· Experience in Social Media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn)
· Working knowledge of Hootsuite
· Light video editing skills for use on social media
· A bachelor's degree or equivalent comparable work experience ( 5 years’ experience in field).
· An understanding of architectural & art history and building preservation will be helpful and a commitment to becoming familiar with these is required.
Physical Demands:
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and be flexible in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
· Must work well as a part of a small team, collaborating across departments, and individually.
· Requires standard work week timeframe, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm company hours.
