Job Description
Position Overview:
Lead and cultivate the music ministry of a diverse, multicultural suburban Episcopal congregation, working collaboratively with clergy and volunteer musicians to enhance worship through music.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and lead music for all worship services, with primary focus on Sunday service, special liturgies, and pastoral services (i.e.; weddings/funerals)
• Direct and rehearse adult choir through weekly evening rehearsals and Sunday warm-ups
• Serve as primary organist/pianist for all services
• Participate in weekly liturgical planning with Rector and monthly Worship Committee meetings
• Contribute to parish communications regarding music ministry
Required Qualifications:
• Demonstrate proficiency in organ, piano and vocal leadership
• Experience leading church music ministry, in multicultural settings
• Working knowledge of diverse musical traditions including:
- Episcopal/Anglican repertoire
- African, African-American, and Caribbean music
- Contemporary praise and traditional hymns
• Commitment to inclusive worship and ability to unite diverse communities through music
• Active participation in worship leadership
• Professional music training or equivalent experience
• Strong collaborative skills with staff, choir and other volunteer musicians

This position reports directly to the Rector and includes the first right of refusal for weddings and funerals.
