Simply put, Hippo exists to protect the joy of homeownership. About This Role: Hippo is looking for a Communications Specialist to help align with Hippo’s brand and business goals. This role offers a unique opportunity to participate in external and internal storytelling, giving you broad visibility into an evolving industry and the chance to make a significant impact. You’ll drive PR initiatives and storytelling that resonate with business, consumer, employee, and industry audiences. You’ll help craft pitches and thought leadership content and generate media interviews and speaker opportunities that lead to high impact coverage. Additionally, you’ll support internal storytelling and messaging, helping prepare meeting content and resources for employees. You’ll also track and report on the effectiveness of Hippo’s broader communication program. As a key member of Hippo’s marketing team, you’ll actively contribute to brainstorming new approaches, shaping compelling narratives for various audiences, and ensuring communications strategies seamlessly integrate with overall marketing efforts. About You: An excellent writer with experience creating compelling copy that matches Hippo’s brand and tone of voice. A creative thinker who can identify industry trends and topics to craft effective pitches. A cross-functional collaborator who can partner with design, product, marketing, legal, finance, and HR. What You'll Do: Advance Hippo’s mission and business objectives through creative, data-driven storytelling and pitching media to drive coverage. Execute communications strategies, key company initiatives, including product launches, quarterly earnings, and industry events. Support Hippo’s communications directors and manage comms projects across the marketing team. Identify, research and create unique story angles that proactively insert Hippo into relevant conversations. Ideate and own the development of blog posts, press releases, talking points, FAQs, and media lists. Track, measure, and report on the impact of communications initiatives and generate a monthly internal newsletter using monitoring tools. Must Haves: 2+ years of communications experience in-house or at an agency working with D2C tech or B2B clients, preferably within a regulated industry. Exceptional writing and communication skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging messages and confidently pitch both internally and externally. Experience contributing to cross-functional projects and collaborating across teams. Highly organized, deadline-driven, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment. A true team player—comfortable taking on both big and small tasks, eager to contribute to a fast-paced marketing team and company. Excellent project management skills, with a sharp attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, location, business needs and market demands.
