SUMMARY

The Grant Writer will research grant programs, write and or assist in the preparation of funding applications for submission to county, state, and federal agencies, private foundations, and/or local businesses. Assist in the review of RFPs and grant agreements, and ensure reporting obligations are met.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Services or related field is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of medically underserved special population groups including the homeless desired.
  3. Fluency in English (speak, read and write).
  4. Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively with others.
  5. Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
  6. Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision. Self-starter, reliable and dependable.
  7. Must have a working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures.
  8. Must be comfortable writing on a variety of subject areas.
  9. Written and verbal communication must be analytical and persuasive.
  10. Ability to utilize internet and/or contacts to gather research/information needed to support grant activities, need statements etc.
  11. Ability to utilize innovative ideas and ingenuity in preparing grant applications.
  12. With minimal supervision, must demonstrate ability to set appropriate priorities, organize work, multitask and meet tight deadlines, in spite of interruptions.
  13. Ability to participate as a team player and to coordinate projects.
  14. Math and computer skills sufficient to prepare grant budgets and routine spreadsheets.
  15. Basic leadership skills.
  16. Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and database systems.
  17. Typing/data entry skills sufficient to meet production requirements.
  18. Ability to solve problems and make routine recommendations.
  19. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.
