As one of the world's largest conservation organizations, the Arbor Day Foundation inspires people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. We help others understand and use trees as a solution to global issues (like air quality, water quality, climate change, deforestation, poverty, and hunger) that are critical to survival.
The Arbor Day Foundation is seeking a Social Media Strategist to join our Marketing & Communications Team to develop and optimize social media strategies that align with the Foundation’s goals and objectives to engage our organic social media channels.
This role reports to the Director, Communications & Public Relations.
You Have:
- Passion. For the Foundation’s mission, nature, environmental stewardship, and people.
- Experience. You have a strong understanding of content strategy, storytelling, and audience engagement and have set the social media framework and strategy for what gets produced, when, and why.
- Social Media Platform Expertise. You are proficient in using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube etc.) and tools (Sprout Social, etc.) or similar.
- A Data-Driven Mindset. You have the ability to measure and optimize content performance.
- Collaboration Skills. You get energy from working as a team to amplify our Foundation’s planet-shaping impact through social media. Nothing we do is done in a silo.
- Strong organization. You excel at planning and managing multiple priorities.
You Will:
- Develop and Implement Social Media Strategies. Align with Foundation goals to engage and grow our audience of 400,000+ followers across platforms.
- Ensure Cohesion. Develop and manage content calendars, ensuring consistency in messaging and engagement.
- Collaborate Across Teams. Work with the PR, Social & Content Team, our agency partners, and other departments to integrate social media into broader initiatives.
- Guide Creative Direction. Partner with designers, writers, and videographers to develop compelling, high-impact content that aligns with strategic goals.
- Create Content. Step in to write posts, design visuals, and produce videos as needed.
- Lead Influencer Marketing. Identify and manage relationships with influencers to amplify our message.
- Analyze & Optimize. Monitor performance metrics and refine strategies for greater impact alongside our Social Media Strategist.
- Stay Ahead of Trends. Research platform updates, audience behaviors, and emerging content trends to keep our strategy fresh and relevant.
