Prince William County Public Schools is inviting applications for the following position:

Elementary Music Teacher

School Year: 2025-2026

Location: Innovation Elementary School

Job Summary:

This position plans and implements an instructional program and provides related educational services for students in grades K-5. This position manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, and modifies instructional activities as required; carries out a variety of student monitoring and control activities; performs related duties as assigned. This position serves as a general education, elementary classroom teacher (K-5); classes taught may be in a single or team or departmental setting, but teachers might work independently in a unique teaching specialty. Some positions are assigned to reading or technology labs. This position is under the general supervision of a principal and/or other designated administrator.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of grade level(s) or instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
  2. Knowledge of child growth and development
  3. Knowledge of Prince William County Public Schools curricula, program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals, and organization
  4. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
  5. Ability to plan and implement lessons using the Standards-Based Instructional Planning Process and based on Division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of assigned students
  6. Ability to utilize multi-media and computer technology, as appropriate
  7. Skills in oral and written communication; excellent human relations skills
  8. If teaching choral music, the ability to teach through demonstrating singing/choral techniques, proficiency on the piano; ability to distinguish pitches and tone quality
  9. If teaching instrumental music classes, proficiency in one or more musical instruments, and the ability to model correct playing techniques in all instruments; the ability to distinguish pitches and tone quality

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree
Collegiate Professional, Post Graduate Professional, or appropriate vocational license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with endorsement(s) required for teaching assignment(s). #J-18808-Ljbffr
