Dunlap Elementary Music Teacher (Grades 2-4, Starting in Fall 2025)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Has a valid Michigan Elementary teaching certificate
  2. Music Education (JX) K-12 Endorsement
  3. Knowledge of and able to apply best instructional practices essential to inquiry based teaching and learning
  4. Strong personal integrity and professional ethics
  5. Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  6. Possess good communication skills
  7. Positive behavioral support experience preferred
  8. Plan for and deliver quality music education instruction and related activities.
  9. Knowledge of PBIS, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
  10. Familiarity with Tiered Systems of Support, both academically and behaviorally
  11. Experience working with students of varying academic, social and emotional abilities
  12. Ability to hold conversations with teachers about student achievement data

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ability to plan and coordinate with general education teachers
  2. Ability to coordinate/organize a variety of school-level performances, programming, and student events
  3. Ability to maintain accurate records and meet multiple deadlines
  4. A desire to continue to grow as a professional
  5. Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to provide instruction in an elementary music setting with appropriate musical skills for singing, playing, conducting, and musical literature necessary for the realization of grade level standards
  6. Understands diversity of student learning styles and can skillfully prepare and apply differentiated learning experiences
  7. Demonstrates ability to use data to drive instructional decisions
  8. Computer literate with a proven proficiency to effectively apply and integrate technology to support meaningful teaching and successful student learning
  9. Experience/training in Restorative Practices, PLCs, and Trauma Informed Care is preferred
  10. Ability to develop/sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
  11. Motivates students and influences their behavior
  12. Creates and executes clear, logical instructional plans collaboratively that produce strong results in student learning
  13. Maintains and communicates standards of pupil behavior and classroom management expectations for the purpose of providing a safe and secure learning environment
  14. Creates and thrives in a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability
  15. Maintain the drive for results by using data informed decision making, demonstrating persistence, directness, and the ability to monitor and plan ahead
  16. Understands and implements Board of Education Policy, Administrative Guidelines, and organizational practices for the purpose of consistency and compliance

SALARY: Based on Teacher Contract and Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO: Dunlap Principal

STARTING DATE: August 2025
