Position Description

CCSF PHOTO seeks an industry experienced professional photographer to educate students in the field of applied drone photography, imaging, and operation and to prepare students for the Part 107 licensing exam. Classes include but are not limited to: drone piloting and imaging with related post-production technologies as well as an emphasis on regulations, operating requirements, and procedures for safely flying drones to prepare students to take the Part 107 license.
Job Duties
- In-person instruction in the following areas: Drone Photography, Piloting and Imaging to prepare students for the Part 107 exam; Post production and capture using various camera and video methods and software including Adobe image and video editing software.
- Maintain industry contacts and keep abreast of the changing technology in the area of photography.
- Teach in accordance with departmental course outlines and design instructional activities that promote student learning, achievement, and retention.
- Teach day, evening, and/or weekend class(es) at one or more campus locations as required.
- Participate in assessment of course level student learning outcomes.
- Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive, and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.
- Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism to center pedagogy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).
- Earned Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT; OR Earned Associate Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus six years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT; OR Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Art and Design, including Photography.
Desirable Qualifications
- An up-to-date Remote Pilot (Part 107) Certificate from the FAA.
- Earned Master's Degree or PhD in Photography, Fine Arts, Art, Journalism, Engineering, Electronics or related from an accredited institution by the start date of classes.
- Minimum of two years of practical, verifiable occupational experience in the field of photography.
- Expressed willingness to promote collegiality within the photography program and interdepartmentally and participate in college flex days and other college wide service as schedule permits.
- Market experience including, but not limited to, LLC or Sole Proprietorship business operation, image sales or evidence of commercial or documentary assignments, client references, publications or web/museum/gallery exhibitions.
- Mastery or technical skills and knowledge of aesthetics as demonstrated in portfolio.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate commercial, documentary, fine-art, historical, and contemporary techniques and concepts in photography.
- Demonstrated ability to teach community college students.
- Demonstrated enthusiastic attitude and a strong commitment to students and teaching that promotes retention and supports student success.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage students in large class settings, small groups, and one-on-one.
- Expressed willingness to participate in departmental functions.
- Demonstrable proficiency in one or more of the following areas: DSLR/Mirrorless cameras and Adobe Lightroom CC Classic, Business Practices: Running a Drone Photography Business, Portfolio development and production for web and print, Documentary Photography and Editorial Photography, Architectural Photography, Drone Photography: Pilot and Imaging, Post production for images and video, Lighting for location.
- Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted.
