Graham Personnel Services is seeking a Technical Writer and Training Specialist for a Manufacturing company in High Point.
Contract length: Contract opportunity that would last until the end of August
Hours: 8am-5pm M-F
Onsite opportunity: Not remote
Pay rate: $24/hr
Primary Responsibility: The primary responsibility is the technical development and deployment of training/learning materials for the warehouse facilities using a variety of tools and learning methodologies designed for classroom, eLearning, and on-the-job learning. In this position, you will work closely with subject matter experts and system developers on various campus projects to create/update standard operating procedures, job aids, and infographics. You will also create digital training solutions such as eLearnings and videos to support on-the-job floor training.
Job Duties:
- Work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, system developers, and warehouse operations team to ensure business needs are met through training solutions.
- Adhere to department standards. Design and develop effective standard operating procedures for new and existing operational processes.
- Create scripts, videos, and edit video tutorials.
- Facilitate hands-on exercises in the classroom and in the Fulfillment Center or Distribution Center to acclimate associates to their job roles.
- Develop and maintain the following training materials:
- Standard Operating Procedures
- Infographics, job aids, training exercises, and other instructional materials
- Articulate 360 eLearning
- Training process videos and tutorials
- Perform training administrative functions, including:
- Maintaining a class schedule for learners and courses
- Maintaining a training plan for operations staff; record courses taken
- Set up the training room; coordinate the use of equipment, materials, etc.
- Provide training reports
- Record course evaluation results; revamp based on comments
- Manage the physical learning environment
Knowledge and/or Key Competencies Required:
- Demonstrate strong writing skills as it relates to creating training materials.
- Demonstrate solid skills for utilizing adult learning principles to create/facilitate engaging materials.
- Portfolio of technical writing samples for review.
- Portfolio of eLearning samples for review.
- Presentation is required as part of the interview process.
- Demonstrate PC literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- This role will require traveling between the local facilities in High Point and Kernersville.
Knowledge and/or Key Competencies Preferred:
- 2-3 years of technical writing, instructional design, or training experience.
- Work and/or content experience in a Fulfillment Center or Distribution Center.
- Ability to write user-friendly, engaging copy about highly technical subjects.
- Ability to understand and accurately translate technical information for a general audience.
- Experience with content creation using Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, and learning management systems and publishing software, Workday.
