Communications & Marketing Department Overview

The Communications & Marketing team is dedicated to advancing our organization's mission through strategic and innovative content creation. We leverage digital media, storytelling, social media, and creative design to engage diverse audiences, drive brand awareness, and support our programmatic and communications objectives. The team collaborates across departments to deliver high-impact campaigns that resonate with our community and stakeholders.

Purpose

The Creative Manager will lead the creation, management, and execution of large-and small-scale digital-first creative projects. This role focuses on producing compelling video, web content, and social media that aligns with the organization's strategic marketing and communications goals. The Creative Manager will oversee content production processes, manage resources, and ensure the delivery of high-quality assets that engage and inspire our audience, particularly on platforms like YouTube.

Responsibilities

Creative Production Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end production of digital video content
  • Author creative production briefs and oversee their execution by internal teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Supervise the production of video content, focusing on longer-form YouTube videos, to drive channel growth and audience engagement
  • Manage the creation of custom web content, and other digital assets to enhance the organization's online website presence. Ensuring impact storytelling is a core part of the content on the site

Project Management & Operations

  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, deliverables, and day-to-day production processes
  • Maintain quality control standards across all video projects, ensuring deliverables meet branding, equity, and accessibility standards
  • Coordinate external vendors for seamless project execution
  • Manage brand toolkit and develop templates for staff
  • Manage relationships with agencies, third-party vendors, creative networks, and influencers, focusing on advancing equity and belonging goals
  • Recruit and manage a diverse pool of content creators and influencers to support campaigns

Strategic & Creative Contributions

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to concept, develop, and execute creative strategies and processes that deliver high-value content
  • Act as a content expert, providing insights on video production, storytelling, and design projects
  • Identify opportunities to grow YouTube relevance, audience, and engagement, ensuring the platform remains a critical part of the content strategy

Social Media Management

  • Execute content strategy for Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Produce and edit social media graphics and creative video content.
  • Track social media performance metrics and provide regular recommendations for improvement
  • Help executive leadership contribute to the breadth and depth of the organization by creating relevant content across platforms, but especially TikTok
  • Work with the communications team to amplify the CEOs thought leadership on LinkedIn
  • Lead workshops to educate staff and cohort members about social media best practices

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in creative production, with a strong focus on video, web, and digital content
  • Demonstrated experience producing video content for YouTube, including long-form video storytelling
  • Expertise in web content management systems and custom web design/development
  • Proficiency in tools like Canva and Asana (or a similar project management platform) and familiarity with editing tools
  • Proven track record of working with creative teams and external vendors/contractors.
  • Excellent storytelling, writing, and editing skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse teams and partners
  • Preferred: Wordpress, HTML, proven track record of creative storytelling for campaigns, non-profits or related issues
  • Experience with YouTube analytics and strategies to grow audience engagement
  • Background in recruiting and managing content creators or influencers
  • Strong understanding of branding, accessibility, and equity best practices in creative content

Employee Benefits

This full-time salaried position will work from the Oakland, CA or Washington D.C. offices at least three days per week, with work from home (D.C. area or Bay area) permitted the rest of the week. Reliable access to an internet connection and willingness to spend significant time working from a computer will be necessary to perform this job. Occasional travel may also be required, including for an annual in-person staff retreat.


All full-time employees receive Medical, Dental & Vision coverage. Dream.Org pays 100% of premiums for employee, spouse and dependents. Part-time employees receive 50% coverage. After a 6-month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream.Org offers up to a 5% match. We also offer a flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses, and parking expenses. All full-time Dream.Org employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream.Org also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
