The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Borough Based Jails (BBJ) Division seeks a Senior Design Project Manager. The selected candidate will manage complex capital commitment projects; review proposed projects to determine how and when the work should be performed; work with Sponsor Agencies to ensure an understanding of project scope, oversee project from conception to the construction completion and close-out. Reporting to the Program Executive, other key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Developing deliverable dates to determine schedules that should be adhered to; Supervising, coordinating, and directing project’s construction management and construction staff; Appraising the Project Executive of any issues with scheduling, cost, and construction; Liaising between contractors and DDC; Maintaining comprehensive project history files; Help coordinating project schedules; Addressing construction and design issues; Reviewing change orders; Reviewing project correspondence and reports. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for utilizing the agency’s technical resources to ensure that the projects meet the Agency’s Commitment Plan objectives. ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER - 22427 Minimum Qualifications: One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work; or A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described above; or A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of college or university education and/or experience described above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least one additional year of experience in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project. In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least two additional years of experience in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least two additional years as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project. Preferred Skills:

Candidates should have at least six years of experience working with complex construction project management, schedule management, and cost management. Candidates should also possess strong organizational, computer, verbal, and written communication skills and must be attentive to details. 55a Program:
