Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

Senior Manager, Creative & Brand Services

POSITION: Full-time Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Communications

REPORTS TO: Director, Marketing & Communications

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta works to inspire and lead our region toward equity and shared prosperity for all who call our region home. We work with a shared commitment to community working with residents, neighborhoods and civic leaders across public, private and philanthropic sectors to seize the greatest opportunities and solve the region’s most pressing challenges.

As the Community Foundation nears its 75th anniversary in 2026, it is in a period of exciting growth and transformation. The senior manager, creative and brand services is the Community Foundation’s lead designer, brand steward, and expert in visual communication. This role requires the ability to articulate a visual parallel to the brand's leadership written word, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and effectively deploy marketing and design solutions to ensure cohesive, impactful, and persuasive communication and experiences.

The Foundation’s creative and brand services leader should be a champion for human-centered design across all Foundation initiatives, guiding efforts to meet the needs and preferences of diverse target audiences across multiple channels. These audiences include but are not limited to Foundation donors, nonprofits, financial advisors, Board of Directors, community members, and Foundation staff.

The role is especially well suited to a design generalist who can create a concept-driven annual report as easily and happily as an infographic-heavy Deck; who can optimize a REEL for Instagram as readily as they can advise against creating a logo when it dilutes the Foundation brand rather than elevates it; who understands that being a steward of the brand means ALL communications that represent the Community Foundation are important enough to get them right. An ideal candidate has mastered their craft of design, has a firm hold on the Foundation’s brand identity, is an effective project manager, an influential communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills, a competent copy editor, and a supportive contributor to fellow colleagues as well as the Foundation’s agency, with whom the leader will regularly interact.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Oversee the Foundation's brand identity, ensuring integrity and consistency across all communication channels, materials, and environments.
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex concepts into compelling visual narratives that support marketing campaigns and brand initiatives across the organization including print, digital, video, presentations, environmental, and experiential.
  • In partnership with internal and external teams, integrate design and visual storytelling across all communications channels.
  • Build and maintain a scalable design system, including a comprehensive library of templates, iconography, and other reusable assets.
  • Design and/or oversee development of compelling print and digital communication, including magazines, emails, brochures, ads, SWAG, office environmental graphics, and event promotion – all in accordance with Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta style and brand guidelines.
  • Produce engaging video content for use across digital platforms, from storyboard creation to post-production.
  • Develop templates for internal and external use (e.g., sales decks, email layouts, social graphics) to maintain consistency and efficiency.
  • Monitor, correct, and educate staff to prevent inconsistencies in brand expression to ensure consistent application of written brand standards.
  • Coordinate department communication project production schedules with both internal (planners, content creators, and project managers) and external (print and fabrication vendors) stakeholders.
  • Manage the daily, and often on-demand, hands-on design and/or management of vendors related to the creation of all internal and external communications. Provide leadership and guidance to the marketing and communications team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Oversee maintenance of the image database. Provide creative direction for the Foundation’s photography aesthetic.
  • Represent the Foundation at events and community functions as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, fine arts, or a related field and minimum of 7+ years’ experience in brand and creative roles, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design, video production, and/or storytelling skills; or 10+ years equivalent
  • Mastery of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and tools like Figma or Canva; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
  • Strong project management abilities including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines without compromising quality
  • Deep understanding of audience-centered design principles and design-thinking methodologies
  • Well-rounded experience in digital and print design, preferably experience with presentation graphics and conceptual design of motion graphics
  • Familiarity with multi-channel marketing strategies and practices
  • Exceptional design, storytelling, and visual communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized with the ability to prioritize work and manage competing priorities in a collaborative manner
  • Creative thinker with a passion and clear commitment to equity of opportunity as well as a genuine intention to live and uplift diversity, equity, and inclusion with the team and through the work
  • Strong creative point of view and aesthetic sense, demonstrated in a portfolio of hands-on graphic design work.
