Summary:

Serve as the studio and technical director for all broadcast shows, live events, and productions within the College of Communication and Design and other colleges. Oversee digital technology projects, including video, audio, lighting, LED wall integration, and equipment management. Support faculty, staff, and student interns, and may teach one or two undergraduate courses per year.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Serve as the director and technical director for all broadcast shows, live events, and productions within the College of Communication and Design, as well as productions for other colleges and faculty, including live news and sports shows.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other College of Communication faculty and staff and with outside clients for production planning and implementation.
  • Maintain and update TV, video podcast, and radio studios.
  • Execute setup and breakdown for all video, audio, and lighting equipment for productions and live events.
  • Oversee student interns and workers for all broadcasts and live productions.
  • Serve as a video and audio editor.
  • Function as licensed drone pilot.
  • Coordinate digital technology projects and assist faculty in identifying and resolving audio and video technology issues.
  • Manage student equipment inventory and lending.
  • Coordinate, direct, and support live broadcasts, including news and sports shows.
  • Design and manage lighting and audio setup for productions and live events, ensuring professional quality for sets and scenes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Available for occasional evening and weekend work
  • Experience with LED Wall technology in virtual production environments
  • Familiar with Blackmagic cameras, lenses, and switchers
  • May teach one or two undergraduate courses per year

Minimum qualifications

  • Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent in communication, media, television, film or related areas.
  • At least four years related experience in Broadcast or related field preferred.
