Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) is a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). NSWC PHD, Air Dominance Department, is the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for the Combat System Ship Selected Record (SSR) documentation products and libraries, which, among other documents, includes Combat System Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS) and Combat System Technical Operations Manual (CSTOM). The CSOSS program provides CSOSS packages for ship/shore site combat systems, consisting of operational procedures, diagrams, and casualty control procedures. The CSTOM program provides CSTOM packages for ship/shore site combat systems, consisting of functional descriptions of each element and the interface diagrams to assist in isolating combat system interface faults. Services provided on this task order include the development, integration, maintenance, and delivery services of CSOSS/CSTOM, and CSOSS/CSTOM crew orientation. Other support services include developing engineering and technical documentation around procedures and diagrams, onsite validation, publication, and delivery of CSOSS/CSTOM packages to ships and shore sites.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Document Editor II provides data entry, data review and maintenance, and other document control support to programs on the Combat System Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS) contract. This position is located in Chesapeake, VA.
What You'll Do
- Edit and reformat written and electronic drafts.
- Correct function codes; adjust spacing formatting, standardize headings, margins, and indentations.
- Transcribe reports, technical data, or similar material from handwritten drafts.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks assigned.
- Perform additional research as necessary.
- Maintain equipment, order supplies, provide assistance in answering phones, and schedule meetings.
- Bid and proposal support if requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this role.
- HS Diploma required.
- At least two (2) years of experience supporting document editing, version control, or other administrative experience.
- Knowledge of specialized, technical, or military terminology directly related to Combat Systems Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS) procedures.
- Experience and extensive knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint programs is required.
- Experience inputting data into computers at a very efficient rate of speed, setting up and preparing reports, typing and proofreading emails, and preparing letters and other correspondence.
- Experience preparing master copies for distribution and approval.
- Demonstrated experience preparing MS PowerPoint presentations on varied subjects.
- Experience using scanners, electronically transmitted files, or other forms of character recognition systems.
- Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
