Enterprise Editorial Journalist
Location: Elevance Health supports a hybrid workplace model (virtual and in-office) with PulsePoint sites used for collaboration, community, and connection. This includes remote work and 1-2 days in office per week.
We seek an Enterprise Editorial Journalist with journalism and healthcare industry experience to create articles, bylines, and feature stories for various Elevance Health properties, including ElevanceHealth.com, and owned social media platforms. This individual will be part of the Enterprise Content Marketing Strategy team within Corporate Communications and will be responsible for elevating and enhancing our current content marketing efforts on owned platforms. This individual will bring to life our thought leadership platform by offering a clear perspective on what it will take to improve health and the health system experience, through the lens of whole health, by offering the latest insights, point-of-view, and perspectives from thought leaders inside and outside of the organization.
How You Will Make an Impact
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Researches, writes, edits, and reviews content for Elevance Health owned channels, including ElevanceHealth.com and social platforms. This includes a mix of thought leadership, SEO-driven articles, and news stories.
- Identifies content topics that ladder up to the thought leadership platform’s topics and themes. Pitch new ideas to the core Enterprise Content Marketing Strategy team.
- Create relationships with contacts and sources inside and outside of the organization that could be potentially featured in content.
- Collaborates with Elevance Health Brand Team, Communications, and any other lines of business to inform topics and article content.
- Participates and acts as a leading voice within the Enterprise Editorial Council. Ensures that marketing efforts are connected and aligning to the new thought leadership platform.
- Ensures all materials meet internal and external business and legal standards, and follows appropriate corporate standards, guidelines, and approval processes.
- Writes compelling, brand-appropriate social posts that complement editorial content.
- Create high quality, plain-language stories that offer a timely perspective and point of view, and provide context informed by outside research.
- Research the industry background of a topic and conduct interviews with Elevance Health subject matter experts to inform the story.
- Ensure Elevance Health is adding to the conversation on a topic and bringing value to the audience that also builds the Elevance Health brand and reputation.
- Evaluate where the Elevance Health voice fits in the story and offer thought leadership on behalf of the business.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with earned media and marketing partners and internal subject matter experts to uncover new proof points and content ideas.
- Closely and proactively partner with the editor to build a strong editorial agenda for the company and one that offers high value to the audience.
- Stay closely apprised of industry news, impact of policy considerations, general incentives, opinions, and POV help by our key audience groups.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a BA/BS in Communications, Journalism or a related field and a minimum of 8 years of job related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences
- Experience in healthcare or managed care preferred.
- Strong writing/editing background focused on journalism in the health space and thought leadership is preferred.
- Familiarity with AP style.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary range for this specific position is $90,112 to $141,312.
