This Technical Writer role is currently a 12-18 month contract role.

Develop technical documentation in eXtensible Markup Language (XML) using Arbortext Editor authoring software to publish PDFs.

Tag XML documents for the Army IADS Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) viewer or equivalent Electronic Technical Manual (ETM) and Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP).

Experience developing US Army or other DoD (optional) technical publications, including Repair Parts and Special Tools List (RPSTL), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWR), and IETMs (Operator, Sustainment and Depot).

Ability to read, comprehend and interpret engineer drawings.

Navigate program software identifying relevant system components.

Provide technical writing, document preparation, editing, proofreading, and coordination consistent with customer practices for the development and production of project deliverables.

Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-2361, MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-HDBK-1222.

As requested, work with project and customer staff in the formulation, development, and editing of project documentation, deliverables, and training documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.

Participate in peer reviews, Validations, Verifications, and Logistics Maintenance Demonstration events to ensure accuracy, usability, and compliance of IETMs/eLearning.

Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of prior relevant experience; or a master’s degree and 6 or more years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

Experienced Knowledge of XML (structured documents).

Proficient user of Microsoft’s Office 365 suite of software and applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Microsoft’s SharePoint.

Excellent written communication skills.

Demonstrated experience working within matrixed teams.

Must be able to obtain an interim Secret Clearance within 120 days of hiring if no current secret clearance.

Experience supporting DoD programs.

S1000D experience.

PTC Windchill experience.

Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline 360 experience.

Integrated Logistics Support experience.

Active Secret Clearance.

Must- Haves (Hard Skills): XML knowledge, Army IADS exposure, Compliant with MIL standards listed on TSR.

Degree Requirements: Bachelors or Relevant Experience 4-8 years.

Overview of work environment/workspace: Office Environment.

How will this role interact and support the team? Size of team?: The manual is the deliverable and a depot maintenance manual needs to be completed for the government and a demonstration with the Army of the steps in the manual created.

What is a typical work day?: To meet online via Teams, gather work package, conversations and tasks and procedures and write those through the use of XML onto the work package of the manual.
