Strategy? We are seeking a motivated Summer Intern to join our team as a Content
Strategist. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience
with creating content designs for our digital products, as well as developing
overarching strategies to facilitate the curation and governance of content within
NM.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learn the way content, design, product, engineering, research, and related teams work together to create digital experiences to drive meaningful outcomes for all NM audiences
- Work independently and with cross functional partners to execute on content and content adjacent activities
- Take direction from the team and your leaders to work on shifting priorities and identify risks to deadlines and related content activities
- Deliver content solutions tasks on time to content and design teams
- Assist with implementing content strategy methodologies to help plan for the creation, delivery, and governance of useful, usable content
- Work closely with the content team to shape, develop, maintain, and document the content solutions practice
- Collaborate with research, UX and visual designers, engineers, product managers, and many others to deliver on project goals
- Contribute to the development of content processes to support a cohesive UX ecosystem
- Exceptional writing and editing skills capable of writing for various audiences for varied digital experiences
- Understands the basic fundamentals of content design and content strategy
- Ability to adhere to brand voice, tone and style requirements. Familiar or exposed to content strategy methodologies - such as content auditing, defining taxonomies for tagging, governing content, etc.
- Familiarity with product design and creating and maintaining content in a digital environment
- Familiar with data-driven approaches that take into consideration-business metrics, site assessment, competitive analysis, and research
marketing, PR, digital media or related field
with an expected graduation date of May 2026.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.

Pay rates for internships are determined based on academic tenure and major.
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
