UI/UX Developer (Web Designer)

Overview:
Softtek Gov't Solutions is looking for a UI/UX Developer (Web Designer) to support of a high op-tempo, high visibility, and high-impact office within the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). This consultant needs to have experience with SharePoint and Drupal as well as best practices in User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) concepts for web design. Additionally, knowledge of Section 508 compliance and the U.S. Web Design System (U.S. WDS) is crucial. ASPR is a public health preparedness and emergency response organization that was created under the Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to lead the nation in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the adverse health effects of public health emergencies and disasters. The Immediate Office (IO) is the executive leadership program office within ASPR. This role will support the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) Team that sits within the IO.
Responsibilities:
•Develop products for ASPR.HHS.gov using SharePoint (version 16 or higher), support the transition of the site from ASPR.HHS.gov (SharePoint) to ASPR.gov (Drupal) on an as needed basis, and develop products for ASPR.gov using Drupal (version 10 or higher). The resulting products shall use responsive UI/responsive design and be Section 508 compliant.
•Develop and implement new designs for the ASPR.HHS.gov and ASPR.gov websites using current best practices in UI and UX concepts to design and implement (code) interactive web designs, including interactive graphical content. Where possible, all designs shall be in accordance with the U.S. WDS.
•Collaborate with ASPR's OPA web team and the ASPR Office of Information Technology (OIT) development team to implement new designs and database-based products, forms, products that leverage Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and other complex artifacts.
•Work closely with the OPA web team to develop and maintain a clean and logical site architecture, including a sitemap.
•Leverage existing designs during website development using existing website code as a model/template for new webpages.
•Develop graphic products to ensure web and social media are visually aligned, consistent across web and social media platforms, and align with ASPR branding standards using engaging, informative, and accessible graphics including icons, charts, diagrams, infographics, and photography selection.
•Support search engine optimization of ASPR digital content by ensuring that content is tagged appropriately, can be easily found using major search engines, and is appropriately represented as "Best Bets" in ASPR's Search.gov instance.
•Coordinate with OPA and Search.gov to resolve any issues that occur conducting search engine optimization tasks.
•Conduct quality assurance of new products and address existing quality issues by testing the site to ensure that it functions correctly/contains the correct content and that a typical user is not likely to see an error when browsing.
•Support OPA to develop and maintain a content management lifecycle for the ASPR website to ensure content is reviewed, refreshed, and removed on a regular basis.

Experience/Skills/Software Knowledge:
•10 years of experience
•US Citizenship
•Possess the ability to develop interactive data visualization products, such as an interactive map so that when users select individual states, related content on that state is displayed. Other examples of interactive data visualization products include data visualization products with interactive data charts or interactive infographics. Resulting products must leverage best practices, be 508/WCAG 2.0 compliant, and work in both desktop and mobile ASPR environments.
•Possess professional knowledge of Tableau and/or other mapping/data visualization software.
•Possess the ability to design, code, and implement pages in SharePoint (version 2016 or higher), and Drupal (version 10 or higher).
•Possess professional working knowledge of PHP, SQL, jQuery, JSON, custom web parts (including YouTube embeds), custom workflows (including InfoPath forms), YouTube embeds, ASP.NET, MOSS 360, HTML5, CSS, and Java.
•Able to implement products based on databases in SharePoint and through other database products such as MySQL or MongoDB.
•Possess intermediate experience with Adobe Photoshop.
•Possess familiarity with implementation of WCAG 2.0 and Section 508 requirements.
•Able to organize, coordinate, and deliver multiple complex projects/priorities on a pre-determined deadline.
•Possess professional communication skills in both oral and written communications.
