In 1998, we expanded into China and eventually opened a China design room. Starting with junior apparel, we’ve expanded our product line to include all categories of women’s, men’s and kid’s apparel. Topson Downs has been ahead of the curve and began focusing on accommodating the mass-market retailers and specialty stores. Through building relationships, Topson Downs has become a reliable supplier for quick response manufacturing.
The Technical designer will oversee the process after the first development and take responsibility to the end of the cycle. This is to ensure the consistency of fit, quality and overall aesthetic is met. You will be required to attend weekly fittings and necessary meetings with cross-functional partners, including issuing daily fit comments with direct contact with vendors.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for fit, construction, quality and overall consistency of product category assigned. Accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively, looks to resolve issues while delivering the best possible outcome
- Measuring garments and entering specs and comments into our PLM system. Maintaining accuracy across all styles at each stage of production. Strong knowledge of grading across different categories.
- Work closely with design and the department manager to track and maintain approvals and deadlines
- Attend fittings. Take notes and send comments and tech pack in a timely manner. Lead fitting on occasion if needed, will interact with our China Design room on a daily basis
- Attend weekly meetings with cross functional partners to review WIP and discuss new products.
- Must work well in a team driven environment, shows inquisitiveness and an open mind regarding new fashion trends
- Other duties and projects assigned must be able to cope well with ever changing deadlines and responsibilities and keep composure under pressure. To uphold company culture and values.
Required:
- AA or BA in fashion/ Tech design or equivalent training
- Minimum 5 years of experience including Tech design, pattern making. Previous Technical design experience preferred
- Must be able to communicate concisely with the spoken and written word
- Strong computer knowledge in Adobe, illustrator, MS word and Excel preferred
