Barbaricum seeks an experienced Communication Planner on a contract supporting the US Army's Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA), who will also serve as Assistant Program Manager on the contract. The candidate will coordinate with OCPA and other Army personnel to strategize and draft short and long-term communication plans for Army campaigns, initiatives, and events.
This individual should have experience writing communication plans and talking points, coordination across a large organization, working in military/DoD public affairs, strong editing and proofreading skills, should be familiar with DOD terminology and jargon, and should be comfortable reporting to and briefing Senior Leaders/General Officers. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Word, Power Point, and Excel. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint or other document management and collaboration tools is a plus. This position is on-site at the Pentagon.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in relevant field of study
  • 5+ years of strategic communications/public affairs experience
  • Experience writing communication plans
  • Experience in media monitoring and analysis and familiarity with open source research tools.
  • Ability to write concise summaries on topics of broad scope
  • Strong editing capabilities
  • Must be comfortable reporting to and briefing Senior Leaders/General Officers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Power Point, and Excel.
  • Experience working with DoD/military, especially Army, public affairs is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to oversee and provide accountability for a team operating across the 24-hour news cycle
  • Experience or ability to report to several entities across government offices and corporate headquarters with varying levels of overlap in interests
