The Sioux Falls Family YMCA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the community by fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Through various programs such as youth sports, summer camps, and wellness initiatives, we empower individuals and families to thrive.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Marketing Intern to assist with digital marketing efforts and community engagement. This role will be responsible for managing and enhancing the YMCAs online presence, creating engaging content, and supporting marketing initiatives. The intern will gain hands-on experience in social media management, website updates, content creation, and digital marketing strategy while contributing to the YMCAs mission.

This position reports to the Development Director and works closely with YMCA staff.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the Sioux Falls Family YMCA website to ensure content is current and relevant.
  • Manage and grow YMCAs social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
    • Create and post engaging daily content.
    • Develop and maintain a social media content calendar to schedule updates, promotions, and event highlights.
  • Capture and organize a photo library of all YMCA activities for future digital marketing use.
  • Assist in creating digital and print marketing materials as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze social media engagement, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Support general marketing and communications efforts.
  • Contribute to the YMCAs overall mission:
    • As part of a team committed to strong kids, strong families, and strong communities, the Marketing Intern may be asked to assist with other duties that align with the YMCAs mission.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and digital engagement.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and mindsetflexibility, teamwork, and enthusiasm are essential to this role.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
  • Photography and/or video editing skills are a plus.
