EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture
from an accredited university
0 to 3 years’ experience in landscape architecture or park and recreational facility planning and design
Previous
internship experience is a
plus, but
not
Valid Illinois’ driver’s license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Some knowledge and experience of civil engineering, parks and recreational facilities planning
including
site design, grading and drainage, plant material, and construction
including
document preparation, estimating, materials, and details
Proficient in math skills and ability to perform technical skills
Proficient abilities with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite
Some experience and abilities with SketchUp (or other 3-D rendering programs)
Working knowledge of
ArcGIS is a
plus, but
not
Strong graphic skills including rendering, sketching, and digital graphics
St

ong ability to prioritize, organize, and work both independently and within a collaborative team
Good communication
skills including written,
verbal
and graphic skills
Ability to select and
identify
and/or learn plant material widely used in
Chicagoland
area by common and botanical names
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform field survey, site analysis and measurements
Research and compile data, ideas,
methods
and materials for use in park and recreation facility development
Prepare preliminary concepts, schematic design, design development, and construction document plan

of park and recreation facility development plans
Color
render
presentation plans,
drawings
and sketches
for public meetings
P
repare park
and recreation facility construction drawings and specifications,
bidding
and contract documents
Calculate areas and quantities for project materials; prepare cost estimates for project construction
Monitor, supervise and conduct field inspections of park and recreation facility construction projects
Conduct meetings with public and construction project meetings
.
Assist
with
park
board meetings as needed
Provide assistance to
Parks
, Recreation, Marketing, Events & Cultural Affairs and Finance Departments
Other duties as assigned
