Technical Designer: Men’s Outdoor Wear
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Designer to oversee the timely development of men’s outerwear and outdoor wear, ensuring that all products meet the highest company standards for aesthetics, fit, and quality. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Design, Product Development, and Technical Design teams, driving the successful launch of new products. Your responsibilities will span from technical design and fit management to ensuring products meet company gross margin objectives and key deliverables throughout the go-to-market cycle.
Duties
  • Lead the execution of design and fit intent into bulk production, ensuring adherence to corporate standards across men's outerwear and outdoor wear categories.
  • Collaborate strategically with cross-functional business partners to gain clear direction and alignment on fit intent, ensuring a unified approach across all product lines.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive digital library of core and seasonal size specs, body blocks, and fit histories for men’s outerwear and outdoor wear styles.
  • Organize and lead fit sessions on models, preparing tech packs and utilizing fit history for each style, ensuring consistency and accuracy across multiple product categories.
  • Maintain and strategically manage relationships with fit models via local agencies, ensuring a continuous and reliable talent pool.
  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable fit comments in a timely manner, addressing points of measure, sketches, and digital photos as necessary to support product development.
  • Problem solve by correcting patterns and recommending adjustments to achieve optimal fit, with a focus on men’s outerwear and outdoor wear.
  • Clarify and communicate fit comments and corrective directions to overseas partners, ensuring alignment and quality control.
  • Measure and prepare samples for fittings, strategically organizing and storing seasonal samples to maintain efficient workflow.
Requirements
  • A degree in fashion design, pattern making or equivalent
  • 5-8 years technical design and/or pattern making experience in the apparel industry
  • Computer proficiency with; Excel, Illustrator and PLM
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and textiles
  • Good understanding of production timelines, equipment and garment construction
  • Good understanding of garment materials as it relates to construction and fit (fabric and trims)
  • Excellent organizational skills & strong communication skills with overseas partners
