The American Veterans Center (AVC) is where history meets multimedia and culture, producing major live events and Emmy-winning television specials, along with mass-reaching digital content, all designed to preserve and spotlight America’s heroic legacy. At the heart of our brand is spotlighting the heroes whose stories inspire us all – cultivating those relationships, and then bringing their experiences to a mass audience.
AVC is hiring for the position of Content Producer to oversee outreach & new content generation, production coordination, and video editing support for AVC’s YouTube channel at YouTube.com/AVCvideos. To take our brand, content, and reputation to new levels, we are seeking a motivated producer with superior organization, communication, and relationship-building skills, talent in Adobe Premiere and relevant editing software, and a passion for history and storytelling.
Content Producer responsibilities include:
- Primary:
- Identify, organize, pre-produce compelling interview opportunities among notable American veterans and history makers. Emphasis on strong storytelling and likely performance to drive YouTube and digital content traffic.
- Cultivate opportunities and partnerships among like-minded organizations such as museums and other veteran organizations and institutions with the end goal of filming large quantities of quality interviews. Coordinate details and logistics surrounding interview shoots.
- Screen and pre-produce newly captured and archived footage for quality and digital performance potential.
- Provide edit support to maximize content output for the AVC’s YouTube Channel, which now enjoys more than 1 million subscribers and approaching 1 billion views.
- Secondary:
- Coordinate interview schedules and production in advance of and at the AVC’s major tent pole events and TV specials.
- Manage interview shoots at the AVC’s in-office studios.
- Provide production/logistics support at AVC programs as necessary.
This position will be approximately 65% outreach/relationship development/production coordination, 35% video editing.
Content Producer requirements:
- A demonstrated interest and passion for history, culture, content creation, and storytelling. Experience/success in creating for YouTube is a plus.
- Superior interpersonal skills – you must like people, and people must like you.
- High EQ, and must be genuine in your appreciation for these stories and people.
- Superior organizational skills & content-producing experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Deadline-driven and highly self-motivated.
- Highly collaborative and open-minded in the creation process.
- Positive attitude and sense of humor.
- Proficiency in editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Adobe Creative Cloud Applications.
- Proficiency and appreciation for digital content and social media.
- Enthusiasm for pop culture of all kinds!
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of professional experience in production, content creation, and/or editing.
- Location in Washington, DC area is preferred, but not required.
