THE POSITION

Do you specialize in managing and curating content for online platforms? Governor Shapiro’s Office of Digital Strategy is looking for a Content Director to drive digital communications, own the Governor’s voice, and ideate creative and innovative concepts to share the Governor's message. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior digital leader to join our strong team that values teamwork and collaboration, who is always ready to tackle the unexpected, and is dedicated to being at the forefront of transforming digital communications for Pennsylvania.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Content Director within our Digital Strategy office, you will lead a three-person team to create and drive innovative graphics, videos, animations, gifs, text, and methods that have not been tested yet to reach Pennsylvanians, legislators, stakeholders, and national audiences. Responsibilities include:

  1. Supervising the Platforms Manager and Production Associate.
  2. Managing the Content team’s staffing schedule.
  3. Collaborating with the Governor’s Communication Office to share the Governor’s message online.
  4. Developing ideas with the larger digital office.
  5. Staffing, filming, and traveling with the Governor to events as necessary.
  6. Editing high-stakes videos to align with the Governor’s brand.
  7. Engaging with diverse online audiences.
  8. Assisting in rapid response efforts and managing creative projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Given the always-on nature of the role, work outside 9-5 and on weekends is expected. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to one day per week.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS: Four years of experience creating and managing content across digital platforms, including content strategy development, audience targeting, and content distribution; and at least two years of experience managing, mentoring, and leading a team of content creators, designers, and/or digital marketers.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, design, product, and development teams.
  2. Proven success in managing content production schedules and resources.
  3. Experience ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging across all digital channels.
  4. Ability to adapt content strategies to meet evolving needs.
  5. Ability to manage content crises and sensitive situations.
  6. Ability to work well in a fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment.
  7. Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a desire to learn new tools and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in government or campaign offices.
