JOB SUMMARY:
Sportime Clubs seeks to hire a highly experienced and results-oriented Executive Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy to lead the development and execution of marketing and brand strategy for our growing network of sports clubs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading a large, multi-site marketing organization, with experience managing multi-brand and multi-channel marketing operations. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping Sportime's marketing strategy and ensuring consistent brand messaging across all locations and business lines.
The Executive Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy will work in close collaboration with our existing team to direct our organization’s marketing efforts, including meeting regularly with our Managing Directors and club General Managers (GMs) to understand each club’s unique business goals and marketing needs. The role will be responsible for creating a tailored multi-channel, multi-site marketing strategy that drives member engagement, lead generation, and revenue growth across the entire organization. This includes not just multiple physical locations but the site-specific mix of business lines at each location, including (but not limited to) our adult tennis and pickleball memberships and leagues, our elite junior tennis training at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, and our many other youth tennis and sports programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Strategic Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead the definition and execution of Sportime's overarching marketing strategy and goals. Own the top-down development of marketing strategies and initiatives for each club, aligning each individual club’s needs and goals with the company’s overall business objectives. Partner with club GMs at the beginning of each fiscal year to understand the unique goals, priorities, and challenges of each location. Develop tailored marketing strategies that align with each club’s near-term business goals and upcoming calendar of offerings, including seasonal programs, events, promotions, and facility upgrades. Collaborate with the Executive Director of Marketing & Brand Operations to ensure seamless execution of all marketing initiatives. 2. Hands-on Execution & Site-Specific Marketing Support:
Lead the hands-on execution of marketing campaigns, including digital and print advertising, event promotion, and brand activation across multiple channels. Meet regularly with Managing Directors and club GMs to stay informed on each club’s near-term calendar of events and marketing priorities, adjusting strategies as necessary. Design and execute a marketing plan addressing site-level marketing needs, ensuring optimal brand alignment and marketing effectiveness across all clubs. 3. Multi-Channel Marketing & Lead Generation:
Develop and implement a comprehensive multi-channel marketing strategy that drives lead generation, member acquisition, and retention across all sites. Oversee and optimize organization-wide marketing spend, ensuring effective allocation of resources to achieve maximum return on investment. Leverage both traditional and digital marketing tactics, including email marketing, social media, search engine marketing (SEM), SEO, paid advertising, and content marketing. 4. Brand Consistency & Internal Documentation:
Ensure consistent application of Sportime's brand identity and messaging across all marketing materials and channels. Maintain and regularly update key internal documents (e.g., brand book, style guides, marketing templates, brand assets, and site operations manual) to ensure a cohesive brand presence across all clubs. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of brand and marketing initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to align with evolving business goals and member expectations. 5. Data-Driven Decision Making & Reporting:
Use data and analytics to assess the success of marketing campaigns and make informed decisions regarding future strategies. Provide regular reports and updates to senior leadership, demonstrating the impact of marketing activities on overall business performance. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead generation, conversion rates, member engagement, and retention, adjusting tactics based on results. 6. Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the broader marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and results-driven performance. Manage internal marketing resources, ensuring that the team is equipped to support the strategic and operational needs of all clubs. Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment and cohesion between marketing efforts and overall business operations. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree, ideally in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 8-10 years prior experience in marketing leadership roles, including leading multi-location or multi-brand marketing organizations. Proven track record in creating and executing multi-channel marketing strategies, including digital marketing, print, social media, and lead generation. Strong understanding of brand strategy, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape in the sports and fitness industry. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and inspire cross-functional teams and external partners. Data-driven mindset with proficiency in using analytics tools to track performance and adjust strategies accordingly. Demonstrated ability to manage marketing budgets, allocate resources effectively, and maximize ROI. Leadership experience in building and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on mentorship and professional development. COMPENSATION RANGE:
$130,000 - $160,000 per year. Eligible for additional bonus opportunties.
Salary commensurate with experience.
