TeleSolv Consulting has an opportunity to work with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Office of Corporate Communications as a Senior Speech Writer.This role is on-site at 1333 Isaac Hull Avenue, Washington Navy Yard, Washington DC 20376. Duties / Responsibilities:
NAVSEA supports the Command mission of designing, building, delivering and sustaining the U.S. Navy's ships, submarines and systems through its strategic communications efforts. Representing more than 86,000 employees geographically dispersed across more than 40 locations worldwide, it is responsible for providing the strategic guidance, planning and execution support for all enterprise-wide internal and external communication, including marketing requirements and legislative engagement. In this capacity, the office provides direct support and strategic advisement to the Naval Commander on all communication matters. Speech writer shall work directly with senior Naval and government leaders to develop themes and messaging that aligns to and complements their own speaking style.

Background Investigation:
This position requires that you obtain a background investigation from our client. As part of this process, the government will perform a criminal, credit, tax, employment, and drug history background check. The government has varying tolerances, with mitigating circumstances, for issues in all of the categories. The government is essentially looking to confirm that you are generally in good financial standing, up to date on your tax filings, rehire eligible with your prior employers, and have adhered to any federal restrictions on illegal drug use, including marijuana, in addition to other checks related on your character and trust worthiness.

Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a speechwriter.
- Bachelor of Art / Science degree in Communications or Journalism or a related field.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Current Secret Security Clearance
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience writing speeches for senior defense and/or military industry leaders.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in communication skills, both written and oral, to produce concise and properly edited products that clearly and logically convey complex information and ideas.
- Experience as a military speechwriter (Echelon I or II level preferred).
- Experience with NAVSEA, US naval history, heritage and traditions.
- Experience with the US Navy and Defense issues and current events.
