To address the growing technology demands of BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems Creative Video team, this role is focused on keeping our team equipped with the most current video production hardware, software, and critical network infrastructure- storage and servers. This role will focus primarily on the network and content delivery demands and upgrades required to provide future-looking video technology solutions to mature our team’s capability for creating and distributing best-in-class video content without compromise.

The successful candidate must understand the intricacies of a complex LAN/WAN, video server and virtual server network environment. They will have a deep understanding how video-rich content is developed in relation to current video industry trends, and the equipment requirements needed for successful operation in the following disciplines: photo/video shooting, lighting, editing, interactive and 2D/3D animation.

The position requires a self-motivated individual who can create operational efficiencies and build partnerships with IT field support services and other IT service towers located throughout the enterprise. This two-way interaction will be key in order to assure our Video Editors, Graphic Designers, 3D animators, and management team have uninterrupted access to the team’s rendering nodes, storage, applications, plug-ins, workstations, as well as the supporting networking paths of our Video LAN infrastructure through VPN.

An optimal candidate will also have a strong understanding of modern creative design workflows and how software apps form a successful pipeline. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Unreal Engine, Autodesk Maya/3ds Max, and DaVinci Resolve will make an applicant stand out to the hiring team. This person will be expected to support frequent evaluation of our software synergies, how they work together to generate creative results, and best-practice recommendations to facilitate technical improvements for improved efficiencies & outcomes.

The candidate will build and foster this symbiotic relationship to enable our team to deliver content on deadline for: tradeshows, marketing, executive comms, key product campaigns, and key vendors who support our efforts.

In addition, they will be a trusted advisor who will assist in both: hardware/software solutions, and its acquisition and deployment to support our creative video and graphics team.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS/BA from a four-year accredited college or technical college which reflects a specialization in IT networking/network design.
  • 5 years on-the job training in this area and their experience will reflect the ability to proactively ensure the following:
    • Ensure consistent network connectivity to all team members- on-site and remote.
    • Minimization of LAN downtime by submitting & monitoring troubleshooting tickets into an established IT work request system.
    • Working in direct line with the assigned IT Business Partner to: prioritize, track, and expedite break-fix tickets.
    • Software/Hardware Maintenance and Deployment- this would include ensuring all team members are on the current versions of critical s/w tools such as: Adobe CC, Maxon, Davinci Resolve, etc.
    • Working within the M365 environment and related Project Management system in order to optimize and streamline the creative video process for the team.
    • Storage and Archive Management which includes: Hardware maintenance and firmware updates, proper networking with existing infrastructure with proper and consistent scheduling of project archiving (both near-line and far-line assets) onto a digital, LTO tape -driven library.
    • Be able and comfortable working with a Video-centric network-driven platform such as Avid Nexus or similar platforms related to video editing and animation.
    • Administration & maintenance of a file sharing platform to upload/download large files reliably and efficiently.
    • Ability to recommend and maintain current outside vendor relationships regarding video network server buildouts, their optimization, on-going upgrades and maintenance.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

While preferential consideration will be given to the candidate who has quantifiable experience in the areas of network engineering and/or video streaming server networks ( e.g. Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Akamai) this individual will also need to provide key equipment research and recommendations as it pertains to:

  • Trending Video equipment for best-in-class networking and archiving to support our digital video infrastructure.

  • Work with department team members to assist in qualifying capital video software and hardware for capital purchase.

  • Disposition of end-of-life video and networking hardware

  • Maintaining archival media library (DVD/DVC Pro, BetaSP, etc.)

  • This role may require the individual to flex a portion of their time to assist the creative team with:

  • Quick turn/fill-in video shooting either on-site or on-location

  • Short-term, quick-turn video editing assignments to assist team toward content completion.



Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $99410 - $168997

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
