is seeking an experienced and dynamic

Senior Director of Corporate Communications

to lead and drive the strategic direction of our internal and external communications. This leader will shape the narrative of the company, ensuring alignment with business objectives, while enhancing our reputation, strengthening our brand, and engaging key stakeholders. As Senior Director of Corporate Communications, you will oversee the development of a comprehensive communications strategy, drive media relations, and collaborate with colleagues across the company to craft impactful messaging across all channels.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a robust corporate communications strategy in alignment with TEGNA's business objectives, focusing on elevating the company's corporate reputation. Lead a small communications team, fostering creativity and ensuring strategic alignment with corporate goals. Communications Management

Oversee and manage TEGNA's corporate image across all internal and external communication platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging, tone, and visual identity. Create dynamic content for multiple channels to engage audiences, drive awareness for key priorities, and strengthen the company's and local stations' market position. Media Relations

Build and maintain strong relationships with key national and local media outlets, journalists, and other stakeholders to facilitate favorable media coverage. Act as the primary spokesperson for the company, with availability outside of regular business hours/on weekends to handle press inquiries. Develop and execute public relations initiatives, collaborating with outside agencies and internal teams to deliver timely and compelling messaging that highlights TEGNA's market leadership and unique value proposition. External Communications

Partner with colleagues to develop and manage external communications including campaigns, announcements and public statements that advance TEGNA's corporate narrative and local stations' position in their markets. Oversee the creation of high-quality content including press releases, talking points, FAQs and other communications materials that reflect TEGNA's and stations' voice and brand. Continue to enhance the digital presence and engagement of TEGNA across various online platforms, including the company website and social media channels. Own the company's corporate social media strategy, creating and curating engaging content to monitor and enhance TEGNA's reputation online. Internal Communications

Collaborate with leaders across the organization to ensure that internal communications align with and support the company's external messaging, brand positioning, and cultural values. Partner with other teams to design and implement strategic internal campaigns that drive employee engagement, promote corporate objectives, and strengthen company culture. Lead corporate events and initiatives, ensuring they reflect TEGNA's values and strategic priorities. Develop and execute recruitment marketing strategies, partnering with HR to attract top talent across diverse geographies and skill sets. Issues Management

Comfortable managing issues and providing strategic counsel to executives and other leaders in a timely manner. Must have proven experience in crisis situations. Partner with HR, Chief Experience Officer and others on change management communications. Measurement and Reporting

Establish key business indicators to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns. Provide regular reports to Chief Experience Officer, analyzing communication outcomes and offering actionable insights to optimize strategy. Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, with significant experience in campaign development and management and media relations. Proven success in working with senior executives to provide strategic recommendations and influence decision-making. Strong background in issues management, media relations, digital communications, and public relations. Experience crafting high-level communications content, including press releases, and strategic presentations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and effectively engage diverse audiences.

Skills:

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact with all levels of the organization. Record of accomplishment in measuring and reporting the impact of communication initiatives. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to leverage digital tools to maximize communication efforts.

Preferred:

Experience in the media or broadcasting industry at a public company, particularly in a public-facing corporate communications role. Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and managing external PR agencies. #LI-MS1
