Teaching Artist Job at Village Studio Arts in Newport News

This is a contract, on-site role located in Newport News, VA for a Teaching Artist at Village Studio Arts. The Teaching Artist will be responsible for delivering art education programs, developing and implementing art projects, and fostering creativity and artistic expression in students.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with diverse groups of students
• Knowledge of various art mediums and techniques
• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field or equivalent experience

Teaching artists create proposals for classes (for children, teens, or adults) and summer camps. Proposals include class size, date, time, length of class, age range, materials, and a curriculum. Classes must be proposed 2 months in advance. Instructors for ages 17 and under must undergo a background check. Each class must meet a minimum of registered participants in order to be conducted. This position is considered an independent contractor. Hours range from 0-8 per month. Pay range begins at $20/hour.
