Job Title: Technical Editor
Location: Bellevue, WA
Duration: 6 Months
Description
Technical editors work with a world-class team of technical writers and information architects to create product documentation for client’s industry-leading Data Cloud. Working in a fast-paced and challenging environment, you experience the immediate and direct impact of your contributions as client delivers weekly releases to our rapidly growing base of global customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide detailed editorial feedback for all content produced by the writing team, including documentation topics and tutorials.
- Work with team leaders to determine an editing review schedule for existing content.
- Work closely with writers to provide guidance and feedback to product managers and UI designers regarding language for the user interface and error messages.
- Work with writers to review and implement customer feedback.
- Create style and terminology guidelines and provide training for technical writers.
- Respond to queries from the localization team to ensure that documentation is translated accurately.
- Partner with other content teams, such as Marketing, to ensure company-wide consistency in style and terminology.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- 15+ years' experience editing technical product documentation.
- Familiarity with authoring tools, such as Markdown/RST, Git and Visual Studio Code.
- Knowledge of writing/publishing cycle and familiarity with production timelines, particularly for cloud-based offerings and web publishing.
- Expert knowledge of industry standards for documentation, including familiarity with style guides for Microsoft and Google, Chicago Manual of Style, and the AP Stylebook.
- Understanding of the audience ranging from less technical (end users) to highly technical (system administrators and developers).
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with multiple technical knowledge fields, such as data warehousing, data ingestion, security, ML/AI, data storage, UX, or CLI.
- Familiarity with commonly used coding languages, such as Python, Java, and SQL.
- Familiarity with common tools such as GIT, JIRA, and Visual Studio Code.
