Position Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Donor and Foundation Relations, the Grant Writer is responsible for researching, preparing, writing and securing grant funding,assisting with managingnational grantstrategies, andensuring thatgrant-relatedcontributed income goalsare met.This includes securing grants from existing funders and actively seeking new opportunities that align with the mission of Girls on the Run.

Principle Responsibilities

Grant Management

  • In conjunction with the Sr. Director, Donor and Foundation Relations,build anannual grant revenue goal and strategy that incorporates past and present funders and is mindful for future opportunities.
  • Achieve the annual grant revenue goaltoensurethat priority projects and programs are funded.
  • Conduct the full range of activitiesrequiredto prepare,submitand managenationalgrant proposals to foundation,governmentand corporate sources, including ongoing research to qualify prospects.Secure nationalfundingfor organization-wide prioritiesviaunrestricted annual support,programand special project support, thereby achievingthe annual grant revenue goaltoensurethat priority projects and programs are funded.
  • Collaborate withother teams andHQ staff toidentifydepartment-specific fundingneeds.
  • Serve as the relationship contact for National Funders, working in collaboration with the Sr. Director, Donor and Foundation Relations on strategies, tactics and plans to steward foundation partners.
  • Create tactics and execute plans that attract invite-only grant opportunities.
  • Continually conduct prospect research to identify potential opportunities and grow grant portfolio with active pipeline.
  • Maintain case documentation, updating as needed for the most current andaccuratelanguage describing Girls on the Run projectsandprograms.
  • Maintainan accurateand up-to-date account of grant makers, tracking prospects, solicitations, follow-up, funding, meeting notes, reporting and research.
  • Comply withand create all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
  • Identifycouncil pass-thru opportunities that stem from national grants.

*While this position is remote, residency in one of the following states is required: CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, LA, NC, OR, PA, RI, SC, TX, VA, WA, WI, WY.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of proven success writing and winning grants.
  • Analytical and persuasive writing skills, includingtheability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Engaging relationship-builder withanability to connect withinternal and externalaudiencesandleveragethose relationships to cultivateadditionalopportunities.
  • Self-motivatedand proactivewith the ability to set priorities, work under pressureanddeliver within deadlines.Highly organizedwith the ability tomanage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent follow-up and follow-through.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Grant databases, and project management software.

This is a remote*non-exempt, full-time position at 40 hours per week, offering a compensation range of $25 - $28 per hour, depending on experience.
