A proposal writer in the IT industry is responsible for creating and writing proposals for potential clients. The job involves researching the needs, understanding the products and services, and creating a proposal that outlines how the company can meet the client’s needs. Proposal writers must communicate the company’s strengths and capabilities and answer any questions that the client may have. In addition, proposal writers must work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Research companies, non-profits, RFPs, and grants
  2. Write documents that help with business development
  3. Edit written documents in a professional and credible manner
  4. Conduct interviews
  5. Help with reviewing products, services, and project ideas
  6. Help create strategies that assist with proposal development
  7. Rewrite proposals according to feedback
  8. Conduct presentations
  9. Create project schedules
  10. Write copies with a consistent tone
  11. Work with coworkers such as graphic designers
  12. Create graphics and presentations
  13. Meet deadlines

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related disciplines.
  2. 6+ years of proven experience in writing proposals.
  3. Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts.
  4. Ability to write clear and concise proposals.
  5. Strong research and analytical skills.
  6. Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  7. Understanding of the IT sales process.
  8. Experience with IT industry proposal writing software, such as MS Word, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, or Adobe Photoshop.
  9. Good working knowledge of MS Office or Google Docs.
  10. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  11. A positive attitude.
