Excellence in news and information services demands excellence in our customers' experiences. Our Design & Research Team brings together teams covering Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations with a single purpose: to connect people to the news and information that matters most. We deliver information when and where our users need it by defining and building connected, innovative products that are data-informed and with a customer lens. We're a globally distributed team spearheading a digital transformation at Dow Jones. About the Role: We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to define and lead a design strategy for a new initiative within our Barron's brand in close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders. While this is an individual contributor role, you will be expected to mentor other product designers and lead projects across our NYC (ET) and Barcelona (CET) offices with managers in Pacific Time (PT). In this role, you'll play a key part in designing the future of a unique new community-based Investing Platform for Barron's subscribers that builds on the brand's 100-year history and dedicated user base. You'll be a part of a cross-functional team of researchers, marketers, product managers, and engineers responsible for making this platform a delightful and sticky experience for Barron's most advanced users. You'll be responsible for strategic influence and driving alignment across multiple teams and the execution of highly crafted system-oriented designs. The Principal, Product Designer will report to the Director of Design, Wealth and Investing. You Will: Use your background as a designer in Fintech or other data-driven business to influence and own the delivery and outcome of high-quality end-to-end design solutions for our new Investor-focused product. Be a thought leader for our team. Set a high bar for systems-driven design execution and craftsmanship. Lead by example. Bring to bear a deep understanding of UX best practices and visual design principles to your solutions alongside a grounding in data-driven testing methodologies. Have a robust understanding of accessibility (a11y) requirements and how to best integrate them into your work. Be a dependable teammate who treats everyone with respect. Bring to bear your mentorship experience when it comes to fostering an inclusive culture. Help us build up Dow Jones as a place for world-class design and help grow our team. Serve as an advocate for our users, keeping their needs at the heart of our product design solutions. You Have: 7+ years of relevant work experience as a Product Designer in a matrixed organization where you've shipped products, landed them, and grown them over time. A strong portfolio that demonstrates your end-to-end Product Design process and approach inclusive of a research function. The ability to present and defend your work effectively to stakeholders and senior leadership for review and feedback, in person and in written communications. The ability to lead and take initiative, balancing strategic goals with daily tactical work (and understand how to turn the tactical into strategic opportunities). Strong grasp of UI, HCI, Accessibility, and UX principles. Expertise working on native mobile (iOS and Android), web, and responsive design. Expertise with component-based design, design systems, and Figma. Strong proficiency with G-suite products and experience with professional collaboration tools such as Jira, Miro, Confluence, and Airtable.
