The New York Post is seeking a versatile and dynamic Senior Design Editor (Various Shifts Available) to join our fast-paced newsroom. This role is ideal for a strategic, visual problem solver with a passion for news, a sharp design eye, and a digital-first mindset. You'll play a key role in shaping the Post's visual storytelling across all platforms-in particular web, mobile and social media, as well as print.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative design solutions for digital platforms, including websites, mobile apps, social media, and emerging media.
  • Mentor and provide creative direction to Design Editors, fostering a culture of growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with editorial, photo, social, and video teams to produce compelling visuals that enhance storytelling.
  • Design graphics, data visualizations, and multimedia content tailored for web and social channels.
  • Work with the Deputy Design Editor to establish templates, design systems, and style guides that maintain brand consistency.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, introducing new tools, techniques, and design best practices to elevate the Post's content.


Requirements:
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Strong digital-first mindset with a deep understanding of mobile-first design, social media content creation, and data visualization tools (e.g., Mapcreator, Flourish).
  • Proven leadership qualities and strategic planning skills, with the ability to motivate a high-performing design team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for news, sports, viral content, pop culture, and emerging digital trends.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strong typography, image manipulation, layout, and branding skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate and justify creative decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work on weekends and holidays as needed.


Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 4 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).

Pay Range: $85,000 - $110,000
